Sugar Cookies

These cookies are easy and fun to make, create and spend time with friends, family and kids designing and making a that cookie your very own. You can use gluten free flour instead of plain flour if you desire. Make sure that if you are going the route of gluten free that all the sprinkles etc are gluten free also.

Sugar Cookies (cut out cookies)
3 ½ cups of flour
1 tsp baking powder
½ tsp salt
1 cup softened butter
1 ½ cups caster sugar
2 eggs room temp
2 tsp vanilla extract


1. In a separate bowl combine the flour, baking powder and salt
2. In another bowl cream the butter and sugar together
3. Beat in the eggs one at a time into creamed butter and sugar, then add in the vanilla extract and mix well
4. Gradually add in the flour mixture to form a dough ball that comes away from the sides of the bowl
5. Cover mixture with cling fill and place in fridge for 2 hours or freezer for 30 – 45 min to make it soft but firm
6. Remove from fridge/ freezer and turn out onto floured surface
7. Roll the dough out and cut into desired shapes using either a knife or cookie cutters
8. Place into warm oven at 180 degrees C for 6 – 8 min until the cookies are lightly browned
9. Remove from oven and place onto wire tray to cool
10. Once cooled you can decorate cookies with icing, melted chocolate, sprinkles, sweets, etc….
